Year End

I think I need to get better about this... It's been over a month.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I am enjoying my 17 days off work. I don't go back until Jan. 7. In that time I have to pack, hire movers, close on the house, unpack, and get settled in the new house. Oh and I might take the CPA again in there. This is probably the hardest test I have ever taken. At least I can re-take it as much as I need to.

For Christmas I got a yarn winder and swift! It has not arrived yet though so I am patiently waiting the UPS truck.... Yea right. It's killing me waiting! I want it now! Of course with the moving and everything I'm not going to have time to knit much.

I also got Pirates of the Caribbean 3, $250 in gift cards for Pier One, a bath set, the new Michael Buble cd, and other little stuff. I really want a GPS so I might get one myself next week after I close.

I signed up for a Christmas Yarn Exchange at pickupsticks.ca and got my pal's yarn in last week. It's the Handmaiden Fine Yarn Casbah sock yarn and it is GORGEOUS!!! This is my 3rd skien of it and I can't wait to knit with it! I need to figure out a pattern I want to do. Do I make socks? Or give in to the Clapotis frenzy? Maybe a lace scarf? It's yummy and I want to use ALL of it. Here's the pic.

I think today I'm going to work on getting my stash pictues in Ravelry so I can start packing it up.

Turkey Day

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am in Manning, South Carolina with my family. They are all out golfing this morning. I don't golf that well so I'm home playing on the computer. I'll probably work on my socks for a little bit too.

With my parents moving (I live at home) here (Manning), I've been looking at townhouses. I think I've found the one that I want and put an offer on it Tuesday night. They counter-offered yesterday so I need to figure out what I'm going to do. It's 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath, one car garage, end unit in a col-de-sac. It's easy to get to the highway's from there too. There are other units for sale in the neighborhood that are listed cheaper. So I dunno. My third grade teacher is my agent. Speaking of which I need to call her to discuss my next move.....

This picture was from a while ago. Miss the college days....

Here I am!

I know it has been way too long since I posted last. No excuse really, I just haven't thought about it. I spend a lot of time on Ravelry and I love it! It has really expanded my knitting world. I just need to stop looking at it while I'm at work....

I have good news - I turned the heel on my first sock!! Second time is a charm. I even tried it on and it fit great. Add to Christmas list - more hours in the day.

I also hand wound my first two center pull balls. The first one looks pretty good. Second is not so pretty. But I think it will work. I am definately getting a winder though, next 50% off JoAnn coupon.

I take the next part of the CPA Nov. 20. I take Audit, which is what I do, so hopefully I'll pass. Still have not gotten my score on the part I took Oct. 1. Grrr... time is running short.

I had a rough day today. So today's pictures are things that make me happy.

A Beautiful Person

I know it has been a while since I posted. A lot has been going on the past few weeks. First:

My grandfather passed away Friday Sept. 7 from cancer. He also had Alzheimer's. Wasn't he handsome? :) He was a very special person that everyone liked. While I'll miss him dearly, I'm happy that he is reunited with my grandmother, no longer trapped in a failing body, and that I got to spend time with him his last 4 years. He was a WWII veteran in the Navy, and went in to build the landing strip at Iwo Jima after the battle. There was an honor guard at his funeral with live taps.

It was so beautiful. I would like to go back to the cemetary sometime, his plaque will not be done for another week or so.

One more picture and then I really have to study (I won't be posting until Oct. 1).

How I'll always remember him..... With my dad.

Timesuck

So I got my Ravelry invite today! jujubeee if you want add me. I think I know what I'm going to be doing this weekend....

I wasted time today. I should have been working, but I deciced to figure out how to add the Ravelry button, how to do a progress bar, chatted on facebook.... And let me tell you, HTML code stinks.

No pictures today, it's late.

Almost there....

I just looked up my place in line for Ravelry and guess what, 50 people in front of me!!! So hopefully tomorrow I'll get my invite and FINALLY see what everyone is talking about. I think it will be a place for me to list what projects I want to work on so I wont forget. And I'm excited to see what other people have done with the patterns.

In other news, my dad sliced his hand pretty bad this weeked with a drummel that he modified by putting a 5 inch blade on. Almost cut off his finger. So he's having surgery tomorrow on it to sew everything up. He should be fine if he does the physical theropy.

Here is a picture since I'm out of town and on my work computer. Yes, I am a dork and proud of it!

New Title

Yes, I changed my title. Since this is more about my adventures with yarn I wanted something more appropriate. I'm off to San Antonio again this week. I didn't make it to the LYS last time, so this week it's definately a priority. It's called Yarnivore and looks like a fun shop.

I'm almost done with the leg on my socks. I like how they are turning out!

I want to do a short row heel, I think they look pretty. Never done a short row though so this might be interesting. I'll have to bring scrap yarn with me to practice. No way am I going to attempt an unknit if I mess up.

Kangaroos abound!

Saturday morning I was awakened by my phone. M was wondering if I was interested in going to the Kangaroo Conservatory Center in Dawsonville, GA. The what? Apparently it is the largest kangaroo conservatory outside of Austrailia. So we rode up Sat. afternoon with his mom and brother.

Even with the hot weather, it wasnt too bad. I got a little stuffed kangaroo to bring home.

Friday night I went to Friday's for dinner. I got the Cedar Salmon pasta, which I have gotten at least 4 times before tonight. I was not impressed with the salmon. Now, I know it's the "Right meals, Right price" promotion, but really? Doesnt that look pitiful? Thin and overcooked. I didn't really want to eat it anyways though so I didn't make a fuss.

Also, as promised, a picture of my lonely leg warmer. Second one should be easy, but with my CPA testing coming up shortly.... I need to be careful how much I procrastinate studying.

Mixed Up Seasons

So I have decided the correct time to make winter items is in the summer, and summer items is the winter. That way by the time you are ready to use it, you are not still sick of looking at it on the needles.

Like the wrist warmers. I started before Christams, had one done for Gram to open, and finished the second in June. Plus my guage changed on the second one (note to self: complete second item of pair as close to finishing the first as possible).
So now I am on to legwarmers. Something for the fall that will actually be ready by the time it starts to get cool. And they are hot pink.

Xanga is still slow on my computer. Not much has been going on to post. I'm going to start posting projects and stuff on here I think.

I finished the wrist warmers, now that it is June :)

Only I need to upload the pictures first. Another day...

Are you kidding? I posted a nice blog and it didn't publish. Maybe later I'll try again.
